I'm back

So sorry it's been forever since I've last written. It's been busy the last few months. Here's quick brief on what has been happening:

  • Went to the UK for work in May. Dip joined me and we drank our way around the town. Worked crazy hours while there. Got upgraded to B-class on the flight home. Was so excited....and then sat by the most gas-iest man in my life for 7 HOURS!!!. Silent, but deadly. Jim greeted me at the airport with roses. I think absence did make the heart founder. We both missed each other tremendously! Gordy walked in circles around me for 20 minutes when I got home and then stuck to my side (literally she had to be touching me at all times) for 2 weeks.

  • Turned the big 3-1 and had a BBQ at the house. Had a great turn out with great friends, booze, some golden T and some awesome and generous presents. Got a Wii for my b-day and I am the ultimate guitar hero!!!

  • Gordy got puppy warts. She had to be quarantine from all dogs until it cleared up - about 7 weeks. We really missed Puppy Daycare!!!!

  • Went to HHI to see Jim's parents. Enjoyed the weather. Took Gordy with us. She saw the beach for the first time and learned how to swim. I'll post some to the pictures I took. Really the whole trip was a photo shoot of Gordy.

  • Began decorating the house. Bought a couch (should be here in a few weeks and my first adult major furniture purchase) and have been on a painting rampage. Painted the Kitchen, living room and this weekend the dining room. Need to wrap up the trim on all the rooms and tackle the hallway next weekend. I'm a painting fool and surprisingly good at it. I actually really like doing it. I find it relaxing. And I'm soooooo excited about the paint color. Really adds life to the place.

So that's the quick and dirty on what's been going on. Jim is approaching the date of only having one more year of school!!!!! We are expecting a new addition to the Flach family any day now (no, not from me and Jim). We're going to NC for to hang with my family in a few weeks and then I head back to the UK for another week and half. This time it probably won't be as boozed filled as the last trip, but I get to fly b-class over and back which is great. My company changed their travel policy.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hola!

Hi there,

So Jim and I just came back from a great and RELAXING trip to Mexico. Jim had no clue of our destination until we were in the airport. We went to Playa Del Carmen and stayed at Secrets Capri. The resort was all inclusive. Everything was wonderful. Our days were filled with sitting by the pool. Walking on the beach. Drinking. Sleeping. Eating. It was everything we wanted out of our vacation. We definitely will be going back. I've attached a few pictures to highlight the trip.

The people watching was great. There were all ages at the resort...no kids. Couples only. Quite a few banana hammocks and a few topless sun bathers. We think Jim broke two of his toes climbing out of the hot tub (I know....tough life) and he got alittle ill for a few hours, but was able to recover. They had plenty of bottled water for us and the staff was so friendly. Our room was really beautiful and very clean. Our travel agent told them we were here for our anniversary. They went out of their way to do some special things for us to celebrate our "second anniversary". Champagne, rose petals on the bed, etc. It was cool.

Gordy also had a vacation. She stayed with my friends Kim and Kimo. They have two labs, Sierra and Morgan. Apparently she had a blast....and as much as it breaks my heart to say I think that she was sad to leave. However, she's now passed out next to me, catching up on some much needy puppy naps. Also as promised I'm posting a picture of Gordy and her Dad Drake.

Waste of time

Hi,

This should be a short one today. I just wanted to put the warning out there to not WASTE your time on seeing the Other Boleyn Girl movie. It was horrible! The book club went yesterday as a field trip since it was our December/January book. We were so utterly disappointed. Acting was sort of decent but the script was poorly written . I really feel for the author....to see her novel butchered like this! I do however still encourage people to read the book....just don't waste your $8.50 and $11 on food on the movie.

Meet your maker - literally!

Greetings!

Happy March!

What to speculate on today? Celebrity pregnancy? Michael Jackson's Thriller anniversary? Obama/Hillary war?

Nah...the press is already doing enough about that! Let's talk about the world of Kate (aka Katie) Flach. Last Friday I took a "mental health" day after all the long hours of work that I had been putting in. One would think on these type of days off you would be resting the body, re-energizing, soul searching......but not me. I ran some much needed errands all day long. Stuff that had been piling up in the corner of my room was returned. Prescriptions that were 6 months old filled and the list goes on. It was so liberating!!! Then I trucked it home to begin the mass cleaning of our house for the arrival of Jim's parents on Saturday. We had a lovely evening with his parents on Saturday and then his family came over Sunday morning for brunch.

Sunday was also a big day for Gordy. She met her maker - literally. Gordy's Dad Drake met his daughter for the first time. For those of you who don't know Drake is our Real Estate Agent's dog. We love Drake so much and when we found out he was breeding we couldn't resist having one of his off-springs. It was a great day for the two. They played and Drake tried to hump her. He just see's a hot young thang. He has no concept that she is his daughter. It was crazy to see how much they looked alike. I'll have to put some pictures up soon. We did also find out they have some very similar mannerisms.

This weekend is about the house and relaxing. I can't wait.

BTW my poor Dad was stuck in the Dallas airport for over 24 hours. He got snowed in yesterday. For those of you who know my Dad start envisioning Dad sleeping in a booth......scary. But I think he made the best of it. He befriended the owner of one of the restaurants. He hooked himself up at Brookstone buying sleeping essentials - eye covers, blankets, pillows, and sat in their massage chair until the store closed. Then he returned to the restaurant, who had reserved a booth for him to sleep in and had a bottle of wine behind the bar marked with his name and settled in for a sleepless night. Glad to say that he is currently en route to Dulles.

Feels like Spring

Hi All,

I can't believe that Feb is almost over. And to top it off today it's going to be 60 degrees...with snow predicted towards the end of the week.

Work has slowed down alittle 10-12 hour days. I just have to get these darn audit request wrapped up and hopefully I'll be good to go!

Had a good weekend. Got my hair did. No longer a blonde - now back to my orginal hair color. Met up with Corey, JT, and Caroline for dinner Saturday night. I think my stomach was sore from laughing so much. Really just the visual of Corey running through DC, no shoes on in her PJ's, fighting crime, keeps replaying in my head (story that she told). But the highlight of the weekend was that we bought a new car! Well an SUV. We picked up our Toyota Highlander last night. It's pimped out. I've got to get use to such a big vehicle, but we love it. And I think Gordy does as well.

Enjoy the warm weather!

Jalapeno Fingers

Hi there,

It's been a busy few weeks. I've been working 13-14 hour days and as of last Friday I was on day 20 of working straight. Needless to say I'm tired!!! But there was some good news that came last week. I was finally promoted to a Director! So lots to celebrate now. I think Jim and I had already planned on how to spend the pay increase well before the promotion came.

Had a lovely weekend with Dipali and Sandra. Dip treated Sandra and I to a spa day at the Ritz. I felt like a princess! And then we celebrate Sandra's b-day party...a big surprise to her.

You might be wondering why the title to this blog. Well Jim and I have a super bowl dinner tradition. Unfortunately, even though we had the meal last night, I had to work most of the day (missed Corey's awesome get together :( ) and then spent majority of the super bowl taking down the Christmas tree.....yes my tree was still up....I'm embarassed to admit! The recipe is this pulled pork that you put jalapeno's and apricot jam on the pork. Well I used fresh jalapeno peppers and now I have the oils stuck under my nail bed. Not only is it burning my nail bed, but if I rub my eyes or touch my lips they start to burn.....jalapeno fingers....stay away!

Coming up this week Mom's b-day, Jim and I celebrate our engagement (we no longer celebrate V-day since we got engaged right around there) and hopefully some better work hours!!

Hope all is well!

It's 2008 finally!

I'm so happy to be done with 2007, although a big year for the Flach's, I'm excited to see what 2008 will bring us. Here is a farewell recap to 2007:

January - Rang in the new year with Vicki and Chris. Was hung over for days and I believe there is still a stain on the pool table at the old apartment from me spilling a bottle of wine on it.

February - Mom's 60th b-day. Had a wonderful dinner at Restaurant Eve.

March - Still working hard. Dip's b-day party at top golf (love that place!!!)...not much more to report that month...either that or I have completely, mentally blocked it out?

April - Corey's b-day wine tasting extravaganza. So much fun! Started the hunt for a house.

May - HAWAII! Awesome trip with Jim. Wish we were still there. Jim's b-day

June - Our first wedding anniversary - spent in Hawaii. Went to the US Open in the 'burgh. Saw Tiger Woods - very cool. Had a great spa day at the Willard with Becky....can we do that again for '08? Oh did I mentioned I turned the big 3-0???? Had a wonderful outing at Sonoma with a bunch of friends...was hung over...but in a good way!

July - put our offer on our house. The haggling starts....stress is high...home inspection painful. Went to Hilton Head and also flew up to see Lauren, John, and Raz. JT and Sherwin get married!

August - We bought our first house!!!!! We are officially house poor. Storage...what is that? Move from hell. Took them 10 hours to move our little two bedroom apartment. Brigitte and CJ get married!

September - Jim starts grad school and the lovely Gordy enters our life. Robbie and Michelle get married!

October - Jim working a ton and still cranking away at his first semester. Me hanging out with the dog. Corey and Mary come to visit.

November - Jim working a ton and still cranking away at his first semester. Me hanging out with the dog. Turkey day with the Middletons. Had to have an emergency root canal....was in terrible pain through out all of Thanksgiving break.

December - Jim wraps up 1st semester!!! Still working a ton. Go to the 'burgh for my first Flach family Christmas. Was very nice. Did round two with the Middleton's the week after. Rang in 2008 with Vicki and Chris.

2008 forecast - Lots of work....why are we accountants? Jim and I are going to take a trip for just the two of us. Mum's the word on the destination - it's a surprise to him. Less trips this year. Jim trying to get through most of his school. Me - hopefully finally decorating the house. Gordy - learns to not jump on people :).

Hope everyone has a great new year.
